Just because the temperature has dropped and the trout are making their way to the spawning grounds, does not mean that you have to sit at home dreaming about the start of a new fishing season. We enjoy some fabulous fly-fishing all year round for pike. This is a relatively new sport in the West but is equally as exciting as catching that big trout at Mayfly time. We fish for these large monsters with nine weight rods, heavy leader and flies that range in size from three to six inches. Pulling a popper, or a pike streamer on a floating line, and watching the pike attack at full speed is an experience. Double figure fish are caught on most outings, and fish in the high twenties are not uncommon.
