Duck Fly Quite good

Sunday, 25th April 2010

The Duck fly has been quite good, fly started a little later than normal due to the very cold weather we had early in the year.First signs of fly were about the 20th of the month.I had an average bag of 3 to 4 trout per boat for the first week most fish taking dry patterns in the shelter from the wind. Two mates from London Paul and Jobey had three good days sport from 30th of march to the 1st of April catching and releasing several good fish. Four good friends that fish with us every year from Andorra had a very good week catching 15  brown trout to 3 1/2lb in three days they also spent a day on Ballinlough fishery where they had over 20 rainbows.                    One Angler that I boated for on 13 days over the duck fly period accounted for 99 brown trout all between one and four pounds,he had success on dry fly and nymphs. Many people reported the angling was difficult but not many boats ventured out, and those that did persevere caught fish .
